Apparently toy soldiers have been around since Ancient Egypt. Makes sense to me.

They were toys to some and logistical war tools for others.  The art is beautiful, each an individual human being – some fictional and some very real figures from history. I’ve noticed there are not a lot of women in this particular collection but since they were based on war, the ladies probably didn’t come into play until WWI or WWII.  But up close and personal, these little metallic life forms become real if the imagination allows.  At the very least, it reminds one of our history and personally I find this very important. Especially where war is concerned. Not everyone wants war but it seems throughout human history is it inevitable, and it isn’t always about religion. Wars have been waged for land, women, religion or perceived insult. But hey, at least the outfits were cool.
