These are just a few watercolors based on Peter Werner’s beautiful collection of vintage toy soldiers. I was lucky enough to study them and have a show at their home in The Union League Club of New York City. Sadly and stupidly (in my opinion) after many years they have removed the collection. If you were lucky enough to see it, I’m sure it gave you the sense of wonder, the spike in imagination and the Tartis ride through history – for thats what it did for me. You don’t need to be into toy soldiers to admire the artistry, and to imagine a child or adult painting them.
Thank you Peter for such a wonderful experience. I hope the collection finds a new home; one that is open to the public so that its uniqueness can be truly appreciated.
